The seductive acoustical characteristic
of this instrument owes much to its fine rosewood back and sides. It can be constructed with Brazilian, Cocobolo, Siam, East Indian, or Madagascar rosewood ... usually matched with a master-grade European spruce soundboard.
If requested, the soundboard can be made of Western red cedar, which results in a more mellow, lyrical sound. The bridge, bindings, and head veneer are selected from the same type of rosewood as the back and sides.
As with all the other models, the Cacao is finished completely by the technique of French polishing ... and often this is done with a dark shellac to bring out the contrast in the natural pattern of the rosewood.
